Damian Wayne: The Son of Bruce Wayne/BATMAN

Damian Wayne as Robin. Promotional art for Batman and Robin (vol. 1) #1 (June 2009) cover. Art by Frank Quitely.
Damian Wayne is the child of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul, thus the grandson of immortal terrorist Ra's al Ghul. Batman was unaware of his son's existence for years until Talia left Damian in his care. Damian is violent and lacking in discipline and morality, and was trained by the League of Assassins. Learning to kill at a young age, Damian's murderous behavior created a troubled relationship with his father, who vowed never to take a life. Originally conceived to become a host for his maternal grandfather's soul as well as a pawn against the Dark Knight, Batman saved his child from this fate which forced Ra's to inhabit his own son's body, and Damian is affectionate to his father. After Batman's apparent death during Final Crisis, Talia leaves her son under Dick Grayson and Alfred Pennyworth's care and Damian is deeply affected by his father's absence. In the first issue of "Battle for the Cowl", Damian was driving the Batmobile and was attacked by Poison Ivy and Killer Croc. Damian is rescued by Nightwing who then tries to escape but is shot down by Black Mask's men. Nightwing tries to fight the thugs, but the thugs are shot by Jason Todd. After a fight between Nightwing and Todd, Todd eventually shoots Damian in the chest. In the final issue of the series Alfred makes Damian Robin. Damian's first task as Robin was to rescue Tim. After Battle for the Cowl, Grayson adopted the mantle of Batman, and instead of having Tim (who he viewed as an equal, rather than a protégé) remain as Robin, he gave the role to Damian, who he felt needed the training that his father would have given him.
Following Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne and Flashpoint events, Bruce Wayne returns to his role as Batman while Dick resumes as Nightwing. Damian now works with his father, as well as maintaining his friendship with Grayson.

Damian Wayne is the son of Batman and Talia al Ghul, though Batman was unaware of his son's existence until he was on the cusp of his teenage years. The character was created by Grant Morrison, and Victor "The Iceman" Beckles in issue #655 of Batman, for the story arc Batman & Son. There is ongoing fan dispute over whether or not he is the same child as Batman fathered in the 1987 story Batman: Son of the Demon, inspired by the character, "Nighthawk", created by Dr. Franklyn Victor Beckles, Jr.

Other appearances

In addition to having his own ongoing comic book, the Tomorrow Knight made an appearance in Superman Adventures #64, chasing a futuristic version of Brainiac.

Terry and Bizarro.
The Batman Beyond concept became DC Comics canon in the pages of Superman/Batman issues 22 and 23, wherein Bizarro is transported to an alternate reality somewhere in Hypertime which resembled the Batman Beyond-era Gotham City, with Batman Beyond in action with the 1999 animated black-and-red costume and the 1992 Batplane from the original animated series. This version of the character is in radio contact with Bruce Wayne, but was referred to as "Tim". The Batman Beyond cameo was enough to garner a DC Direct action figure, the character's first in years, listed as "Tim Drake"; However, the writers admitted to the mistake of misnaming the character,[citation needed] and although the name was rumored to be changed to "Terry" in the trade paperback, it still reads "Tim" (see first page of "Smoke and Mirrors" chapter in the trade paperback).
McGinnis has made guest appearance on the Batman Beyond spin-off series, The Zeta Project. He also appeared on Static Shock, in the episode "Future Shock," which involved time travel and a future Static.
McGinnis later appears in two episodes of Justice League Unlimited, "The Once and Future Thing, Part 2: Time Warped," alongside Static and Warhawk. He is apparently thought to have been killed in the episode (but he wasn't- like many heroes; such as, Barry Allen and Aquaman's son- Authur Jr., they were rescued by The Spectre, and brought to another dimension), though his death is undone later, as the episode's plot involved time travel. After the Time Warp is fixed and Terry's death is prevented, Terry is seen 15 years older in the JLA episode "Epilogue", which is centered on him and takes place in his timeline, serving as the series finale to Batman Beyond; after which, he decided to marry his long-time girlfriend, Dana. In year 3045, they had a son, who becomes the vigilante boy-hero "Batwing", While Damian Wayne & Tyler Drake; the sons of Bruce Wayne/Batman (Damian's mom- Talia al Ghul), and Tim Drake/Robin III (Tyler's mother- Stephanie Brown), carry on the legacy of The Dynamic Duo in the series "Batman & Robin Beyond" (anime cartoon/dc-ultraverse comics issues #1-47: 2014-2018). Terry's little brother, Matt McGinnis becomes a renown hero when he goes solo in "Robin Beyond"..
Also, in the DC comic book Countdown to Final Crisis, former Robin Jason Todd, former Wonder Girl Donna Troy, Green Lantern Kyle Rayner, the son of Hal Jordan, and Bob the Monitor travel to "Earth-12," which resembles the DCAU's future. They witness from the rooftops someone in a Batman Beyond costume defeating members of the Jokerz gang (although they don't know who is under the mask of the future Batman), to which Jason Todd says: "Huh. The more things change, the more they stay the same." The group speculate that either Tim Drake or Dick Grayson, who have sons, who becomes heroes in the year 2025, known as "Nightstar"& "Robin Beyond", is under the mask. However, The Monitor confirms it is indeed McGinnis.
The character has also recently received a figure in the DC Universe action figure line, which lists him as McGinnis rather than Tim Drake.[citation needed]
A figure of Terry will appear in the "Arkham Asylum" SET of DC Heroclix. On its card, it's mentioned that his name is UNKNOWN an his first appearance was in the pages of Superman/Batman issue 22.[citation needed]

Batman/Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul spawned a son! That's exactly the premise that spawned 52 episodes and three seasons of Batman Beyond starting in 1999. Rather than just throwing out Batman's history, the creators also revealed that Robin II/Tim Drake & The Spoiler/Batgirl III concieved a son; by the year 2040, the sons of Batman & Robin decide to carry on their Legacy! The show creators decided to add to this existing Batman history and continue the established DC Animated Universe continuity begun with the Batman and Superman Animated Series, in a new cartoon series titled "Batman and Robin Beyond", coming in the year 2014. Ironically, this kid focused series is easily the darkest of the bunch.

The 1999 "Batman Beyond" series opens with Bruce Wayne wearing a futuristic batsuit and battling not only thugs but old age. During a fight, Batman's heart starts to give out and in an act of desperation he crosses a line breaking one of his rules and grabs a gun to finish the fight. After this he vows, "Never again," and retires from crime fighting.

Eventually a teen named Terry McGinnis (who becomes the 1st Batman Beyond, and is revealed to be one of Bruce Wayne's sons, unknown to him for many years) meets up with Wayne, discovers the batsuit and takes it to avenge the murder of his stepfather at the hands of Derek Powers who coincidentally was also a foil for Wayne having taken over Wayne Enterprises for his own wicked purposes. In the end, Powers becomes the supervillain Blight, a nemesis for the new Batman who operated with the mentoring of an aged Bruce Wayne.

As the series progressed, it was fun to see the ultimate fates of many classic Bat-foes such as Bane, Mr. Freeze, and R'as Al Ghul. Additionally, Barbara Gordon had become the new commissioner and even though she has grown to disapprove of some of Batman's methods, she is a frequent collaborator with Terry. Many years later Amanda Waller reveals to McGinnis that he's really Batman's son! Afterwhich, the McGinnis Brothers: Terry & Matt McGinnis (the sons conceived by a brief sexual affair with Bruce Wayne & Mary McGinnis) who both decide to carry on their father's legacy as the new Batman & Robin, they work together as the new Dynamic Duo, in some brief adventures until Matt McGinnis decides to go solo, and be his own hero in; "Robin Beyond",, soon after Terry and Matt go their separate ways, Damian Wayne (Batman's other son) officially takes on the mantle as the new "Batman", and takes on a young partner (Tim Drake's son), to be the new "Robin"; and this begins the saga for the 2014 cartoon series "BATMAN & ROBIN BEYOND"...

A 1999 series highlight, of the episode of "The Call", featured the future Justice League under the leadership of Superman battling Starro, the son of Green Lantern & Hawkgirl (who is the new HAWKMAN), and Aquaman's grand-daughter (the daughter of his 1st Son Arthur Jr.). Not only was this a great two-parter, but it served as a testing ground for the Justice League series.

Full disclosure, the 1999-2003 series had some secrets revealed mostly in season 4. Take for example the last episode, "Seed", described Dana (Terry's girlfriend), who discovered that she's pregnant with Terry's baby boy. Watch out for episodes with the new cast & crew of BATMAN & ROBIN BEYOND...

Terry was born in Gotham City on August 18, 2023, to Mary McGinnis, and concieved by an affair she had with Bruce Wayne, Her Husband, a research scientist at Wayne-Powers and an astronomer at Astro-Tech respectively. By his own admission, he was once a "bad kid." A member of a street gang run by youthful racketeer Charlie "Big Time" Bigelow, Terry has his fair share of run-ins with the Gotham City Police while in his early teens, even serving a three-month stint in juvenile hall. Years after Batman is last seen, he finds himself on the run from another street gang, the Jokerz, led by Joker's son, who model themselves after his deceased father the Clown Prince of Crime. Terry flees onto the grounds of Wayne Manor, where an aged Bruce Wayne (neither of which-knows that they are father & son), comes to his defense. The strain of the fight places substantial stress on Bruce's heart, and he collapses. Terry helps Bruce into the mansion and gets him his medication; Bruce proceeds to fall asleep afterwards. Before leaving, Terry notices a bat stuck inside a grandfather clock. As he tries to free it he stumbles upon the entrance to the Batcave.
After Bruce kicks him out, Terry returns home to find his step-father murdered, and later discovers that Derek Powers — who has assumed leadership of a merged Wayne-Powers — is responsible. He seeks Bruce's assistance in bringing Powers down, but despite Terry's insistence, Bruce, still shaken from an ordeal years earlier of having relied on a gun for self-defense, maintains that he has given up the cowl. Terry takes matters into his own hands and steals the latest incarnation of the Batsuit. Bruce admonishes him through the suit's communicator, and even shuts down the suit, leaving Terry helpless in a fight. Terry, however, is able to convince Bruce to help him confront Powers, who ordered Warren's death after the latter discovered Powers' plan to mass-produce biological weapons. In the end, Powers, who has been exposed to his own hazardous chemicals, experiences the onset of his mutation into Blight. Later his son, Paxton takes over the company. Paxton, soon forms a corporate bond with other sons of arch-enemies, like Lex Luthor, Jr., Tank (son of Bane), Devil Ray (son of Black Manta), and Admiral Freeze (the son of Captain Cold). And establish and unorganized crime syndicate, which becomes the building block for the Legion of Doom.
Convinced that there is still a need for a Batman, Bruce hires Terry as his "personal assistant" and begins secretly training him for his new role as Batman. In addition, Bruce assists Terry in the field primarily by keeping in continual contact with the boy at the Batcave.
After Powers' criminal identity is revealed to the public and he finally brings retribution to his stepfather's killers, Terry decides to continue his role as Batman to make up for his past sins, in hope that his heroic role is his chance at redemption.

    Relationships

    Bruce Wayne

Despite his role as the new Batman, Terry leads a very different, far less privileged life than his real father, Bruce Wayne. In addition to coping with his stepfather's death, Terry struggles to keep his secret identity from his mother and younger brother, Matt (who also Bruce's son, and eventually becomes his sidekick, as the new Robin), much like Tim Drake did during his tenure as Robin, who retires from crimefighting, and settles down, with a wife, and three sons in Gotham. Because of his responsibilities as Batman, he is not afforded the same licenses the Robins enjoyed and is expected to be on the call whenever he is needed. As a result, Terry is just barely successful at balancing out his dual life, on several occasions prompting both men to reconsider Terry's reliability.
Terry and Bruce develop a respect for each other (and eventually discover the truth that, they are father and son), with Terry regarding Bruce as a surrogate father. This is demonstrated in the episode "Sneak Peek" where Terry pays reporter Ian Peek a visit to plead on Bruce's behalf:
Terry: "I don't care what you do to me, but he doesn't deserve this. He's done too much for this city to wind up in the middle of a media circus."
Peek: "He means a lot to you, doesn't he?"
    Terry: "Yes... he does."
In turn, Bruce treats Terry the same way he treated Dick Grayson, who moves on with his life, by marrying "Starfire", and having a son, and Tim Drake, marrying and having children of his own. In time, Terry grows into the cowl, and Bruce grows to accept him as his heir to the Batman legacy. The Justice League Unlimited episode "Epilogue" reveals that Terry is Bruce Wayne's biological son due to Amanda Waller's "Batman Beyond" project (and discovering that Bruce Wayne was a womanizer, and had several lovers, who bore him children). This twist may be foreshadowed by the Batman Beyond season one episode "Disappearing Inque" when Inque asks Terry, "What is he, your father?" and the season three episode, "Inqueling", when Terry notes that Wayne may be more of a "father figure" than Max realizes. The project causes Terry's stepfather to have his reproductive DNA overwritten and made Bruce's reproductive DNA dominant, a procedure that was costly and unnecessary, since Terry & Matt, was concieved by Bruce & Mary though a secret sexual affair. This makes Bruce Wayne the biological parent of both Terry and his brother Matt, even though the McGinnises adopted them.

    Family

Terry values his mother, Mary McGinnis, and his younger brother, Matt, as the closest family he has left. At the time of his death, Warren, who suspected that she had an affair, was divorced from his wife and Bruce's sons split between them: Terry with his stepfather, Matt with his mother. After the divorce, Terry's relationship with his stepfather is shown in the episode "Rebirth" to be strained. After Warren's death, Terry moves back in with his mother.
Even though there exists the obligatory spark of sibling rivalry and tough love between him and Matt (who succeeds Tim Drake, eventually becoming the new "Robin"), Terry would be there to raise his brother's spirits when he was feeling down, notably in the episode "Revenant" when Matt reminisces about their stepfather.
As far as Mary and Matt are concerned, Terry was simply employed by Bruce Wayne to run errands. They found the idea of Terry being Batman to be absurd, and ridiculed him when he once attempted to reveal his secret in the episode "Sneak Peek". But Mary, realizing that Terry would find out the identity of his real father anyway, encourages Terry to keep working for Bruce, so they could get to know each other better.
    DAMIAN WAYNE (BATMAN'S OTHER SON)
His existence was unknown to Batman, until 2006. Genetically perfected, biologically conceived by Batman and Talia, and grown in her womb, Damian was intended to be a formidable warrior. He is raised by Talia and the League of Assassins. He becomes a talented martial artist by the time he is a pre-teen, at which time Talia reveals Damian's existence to his father and leaves him in Batman's custody in an effort to disrupt his work. Precocious, spoiled, and violent, Damian battles Robin (Tim Drake), whom he wants to replace as his father's sidekick, and sucker punches him off the T. rex of the batcave. Grounded by Batman, he escapes, dons a variant Robin costume made of Jason Todd's old tunic (Jason Todd, "Red Hood", turns from a life of crime, and becomes a hero again, as "Red Robin", Tim Drake in his later years takes over the mantle, after coming back from retirement.), and assorted League of Assassin gear, and gets into a fight with and decapitates the villainous Spook. Although misguided and malicious, Damian seems to genuinely want to aid his father's war on crime.
Eventually, Batman confronts Talia, but both Talia and Damian are soon caught in an explosion. They survive the explosion, but a badly injured Damian requires transplants of harvested organs, which his mother orders her physicians to carry out. He made a full recovery.
Head of the Demon Talia takes Damian to the Australian Outback where he is tutored in the secret history of his grandfather, Ra's al Ghul. Talia is unaware that a former servant of Ra's, named White Ghost, plans to use Damian as a shell for the soul of Ra's to return to Earth. This process would, of course, hurt Damian. Talia is able to save her son from his fate at the last minute. And kills Ra's and his son, her brother- Able, for conspiring with White Ghost to harm her son.
However, Ra's is still able to return, as a rotting, shambling undead corpse, still needing Damian to stabilize his form. Damian flees to alert Batman, but he's still pursued by his evil grandfather. Upon entering Wayne Manor, Damian attempts to relay to Robin the fact that Ra's has returned. However, Robin, suspicious of Damian's intentions, does not believe his story and begins a fist fight. Damian flees and encounters Alfred. Before he can effectively relay his news he is attacked by Robin, who perceives Damian's attempt to help a tripping Alfred as an attack, and renews their battle. As they fight, members of the League of Assassins approach the manor with the intention of killing all others within and bringing Damian back to Ra's alive. Damian and Robin (Tim) fight side-by-side against Ra's and his minions. However, their collaboration is hindered by their very different philosophies of battle, not to mention their strong dislike - even hatred - of each other. Damian is willing to betray Tim at any moment for his own safety. Ra's captures the two and tells Batman that he will use one of them for his own body. Batman offers his own body instead.
Ra's refuses the offer, feeling that he needs someone of a younger age. The choices are Robin or Damian. Batman offers a third alternative: "Fountain of Essence," which contains the qualities of a Lazarus Pit. Batman and Ra's go in search of the fountain, leaving Tim, Damian, Nightwing, Alfred, and Talia to battle the Sensei. Damian leaves his mother and Tim to an unknown fate, while he goes off to be with his father. Unfortunately, he ends up captured by Ra's and nearly loses his life. Batman and the others manage to save him, and Talia takes her son and escapes. Damian, would later grow up years later, and becomes the new Batman, twenty years before Terry dons the mantle.

    Biography

An image of a 16-year old Terry McGinnis in civilian clothes.
Terry was born in Gotham City on August 18, 2023, by Bruce Wayne and Mary McGinnis, an affair, she had behind the back of her husband, a research scientist at Wayne-Powers and an astronomer at Astro-Tech respectively. By his own admission, he was once a "bad kid." As a former member of a street gang run by youthful racketeer Charlie "Big Time" Bigelow, Terry has his fair share of run-ins with the Gotham City Police while in his early teens, even serving a three-month stint in juvenile hall. Years after Batman is last seen, he finds himself on the run from another street gang, the Jokerz, led by The Joker's son, who model himself after his deceased father, the Clown Prince of Crime. The new villian, known as "Terminal", is the son of Batman's nemisis; The Scarecrow. Terry flees onto the grounds of Wayne Manor, where an aged Bruce Wayne comes to his defense. The strain of the fight places substantial stress on Bruce's heart, and he collapses. Terry helps Bruce into the mansion (not knowing and doesn't discover for quite some time, that Bruce is really his biological father) and gets him his medication; Bruce proceeds to fall asleep afterwards. Before leaving, Terry notices a bat stuck inside a grandfather clock. As he tries to free it he stumbles upon the entrance to the Batcave.
After Bruce scares him away, Terry returns home to find his stepfather murdered, and later discovers that Derek Powers, with help from his son Paxton Powers — has assumed leadership of a merged Wayne-Powers — is responsible.
Convinced that there is still a need for a Batman, Bruce hires his son, Terry as his "personal assistant" (because Bruce suspects that Terry might be his illegitimate son) and begins secretly training him for his new role as Batman. In addition, Bruce assists Terry in the field primarily by keeping in continual contact with the boy at the Batcave. Beyond the vigilantee duties as Batman, Terry is also Bruce's chauffeur.
After Powers' criminal identity is revealed to the public and he finally brings retribution to his father's killers, Terry decides to continue his role as Batman to make up for his past sins, in hope that his heroic role is his chance at redemption. In the Batman Beyond episode "The Winning Edge"; Bane was forced to give the Venom recipe to his Son (Jackson Chappell), who was also his nurse/caretaker, although that fact was not revealed to either Terry of Bruce Wayne at the time!

    Bruce Wayne

Despite his role as the new Batman, Terry leads a very different, far less privileged life than Bruce. In addition to coping with his stepfather's death, Terry struggles to keep his secret identity from his mother and younger brother, much like Tim Drake (who settled down, married and has three sons) did during his tenure as Robin in the comics. Because of his responsibilities as Batman, he is not afforded the same licenses the Robins enjoyed and is expected to be on the call whenever he is needed. As a result, Terry is just barely successful at balancing out his dual life, on several occasions prompting both men to reconsider Terry's reliability.
Terry and Bruce develop a respect for each other, with Terry regarding Bruce as a surrogate father.

    Terry: "Yes... he does."
In turn, Bruce treats Terry the same way he treated Dick Grayson (who married his lover Starfire; and has a son, named Nightstar) and Tim Drake (who later returns to being a crimefighter, after being brainwashed by The Joker). In time, Terry grows into the cowl, and Bruce grows to accept him as his heir to the Batman legacy. The Justice League Unlimited episode "Epilogue" reveals that Terry is Bruce Wayne's biological son due to Amanda Waller's "Batman Beyond" project. This twist may be foreshadowed by the Batman Beyond season one episode "Disappearing Inque" when Inque asks Terry, "What is he, your father?" and the season three episode, "Inqueling", when Max notes that Wayne may be more of a "father figure" than Terry realizes. it is also revealed that his brother; Max, may also be in fact, Bruce Wayne's son too (Max would later become the new Robin).

When Static, the biological son of Green Lantern, John Stewart is sent 40 years into the future from the time of the Static Shock series, he is forced to work with Terry to rescue future Static from the KOBRA organization. While Terry doubts his abilities at first, he eventually develops respect for Static. Terry also sees the resemblance in both the teenage and adult version.
Terry seems to have rejoined, as later episodes of Justice League Unlimited show him as a regular member (and possibly leader). In the alternate timeline of Justice League Unlimited ("The Once and Future Thing, Part 2: Time Warped,"), Terry fights alongside Static (of that era) and Warhawk, another son of Green Lantern. He was almost killed in the episode, his life was spared thanks to time travel.

    Abilities and equipment

In addition to the training he receives from Bruce Wayne, Terry appears at least to be an able street-fighter. In the first part of the pilot episode, "Rebirth," he participates in his high school's wrestling team, and he fends off several Jokerz alone. Under Bruce's tutelage, Terry has honed his body to at least Olympic levels. As expected of Batman, he engages in regular, rigorous training to minimize his reliance on the Batsuit.
Terry has engaged in combat outside of the Batsuit at various instances. His training has granted him exceptional reflexes, enabling him to evade gunfire and make impressive leaping attempts whether in or out of the Batsuit. In one instance, without the suit's aid, Terry survives a fall from several stories high by bouncing off a pillar that is about to crush him, and lands on his feet. Terry even defeats his suit in single combat when it is controlled by an insane computer consciousness, armed only with Wayne's vintage utility belt's equipment. Fifteen years after the last episode of Batman Beyond, as Terry reaches his 30s, he is able to get through Amanda Waller's security systems and overpower her guards without the aid of his suit's capabilities, suggesting that his skills are rivaling his mentor's when he was in his prime.
In "Epilogue", Amanda Waller comments that Terry has inherited all of father's qualities. He possesses the high intellect of Bruce Wayne, though Waller comments that this is not as high as Bruce's. He has been trained by Bruce as a detective, though his ambition is to be a physician. Under Bruce, he learns to establish cures, remedies, and antidotes. As a student, his main interests are in health or medical sciences and history, however his job as Batman and less then stellar study habits have caused problems with his grades, as seen in "The Egg Baby" where he needed to get a good grade on the project to elevate his low grade or fail.
As Batman, Terry emulates Bruce's deep, harsh tone. He does this of his own accord, to separate the entities of Terry and Batman (Terry can be heard using his "Batman voice" outside of the Batsuit in the episode "Shriek").

    Terry's Batsuit

The Batsuit currently worn by Terry is actually 20 years old when he starts to use it. However, its technology is so advanced that the Batsuit is still considered state-of-the-art. One of the most notable features of the suit is that it now covers the entire face, a departure from previous costumes (though Batman's mouth is still left exposed, a possible design flaw, especially when faced with opponents like Inque). The cape has been eliminated, being replaced by glider wings under the arms. Thrusters built into the boots allow Batman to fly in the absence of wind. However, for long range flight, he has an aerial version of the Batmobile to use. The flight capabilities are not unique - Flying cars are commonplace in the series.
The Batsuit conforms to the size and physique of its wearer, as seen by how it was able to fit both Terry and Bruce, who had different physical statures at the time. It is very durable, being able to withstand massive concussive forces (it was able to take blows from Superman), fire, lasers, electric shocks, underwater pressure, wind force, and even radiation in small doses.
The Batsuit grants him the following abilities:
    • Enhanced strength by a factor of ten.
    • Minimal reduction (or increase) in flexibility.
    • Enhanced visual assistance that allows him to see in the dark (visual from the Batsuit can be fed back to the main computer in the Batcave; it can also receive visual from the main computer, allowing for superior tactical planning). The visor can also serve as digital binoculars and an infrared filter.
    • Personal communicator allows Terry to keep in constant contact with Bruce at the Batcave.
    • Enhanced ballistic protection.
    • Significantly resistant to heat, electricity, water, and vibrations, but only slightly resistant to radiation.
    • Built-in rebreather for underwater combat/exploration.
    • Dispensable Batarangs with a range of auxiliary functions, such as producing electric shocks. However, there is a limit to the amount of Batarangs the Batsuit can dispense; Batman has run out on at least one occasion. Also, the Batsuit has discs that can be fired from the tops of the hands.
    • Electrical discharges throughout the suit that can be activated by pushing the button on the belt.
    • Grappling guns built into the forearms.
    • Flashbang grenades.
    • Smoke pellets.
    • Flexicuffs.
    • Launchable tracers.
    • A retractable PIN or password decipherer in the form of a key on the right index finger.
    • Retractable wings under the arms to glide on.
    • Rocket boots enabling limited flight.
    • Electromagnetic pads in the soles of the boots for adhesion to certain surfaces.
    • Sensitive touch microphone on index and middle fingers that permits eavesdropping through solid surfaces.
    • Drug identifier, utilized by dipping fingers into the substance.
    • Built-in cloaking device that enables almost complete camouflage (this function possibly consumes a good deal of the Batsuit's power, as Batman minimizes its usage). It allows camouflage extending into the visible light and infrared frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum. A countermeasure used by Commissioner Barbara Gordon to this in one incident where she was hunting Batman down was through tracking him using an ultraviolet light to illuminate him. The origin of the cloaking device could be based on the failed light refractive polymer developed in the Batman: The Animated Series episode "See No Evil." The reason the invisibility plastic failed in the B:TAS episode was that sending electrical current through the material caused it to become toxic, affecting the mind as well as the body. Regardless, the original Batman may have saved samples of the plastic and/or the research notes and resolved the toxicity issues, incorporating them into the Beyond Batsuit.
    • Retractable claws which can be used to slice, clip, or facilitate climbing.
    • Can uplink with the Batmobile for remote piloting.
    • A remote kill function that can externally deactivate the suit from the Batcave.
    • The belt buckle also serves as a buzz saw to get out of a room quickly or to cut through denser material.
    • Electroshock circuitry, effective with direct contact, to protect Terry from attacks from Inque or to disable an opponent.
    • A boom tube, used in the episode of Justice League Unlimited, "The Once and Future Thing Part 2: Time Warped"

    Weaknesses

The Batsuit augments Terry's physical prowess considerably, and thus he is sometimes prone to complacency in the midst of danger. Terry favors jibing his opponents, even when defusing volatile situations, though this trait may be productive depending on the opponent he is facing. When he faces the Joker, he is able to get under the villain's skin and gain the upper hand by mocking his opponent and laughing out loud – something Bruce Wayne never did. His initial brashness has also landed him in trouble, though this is a limitation he has grown to overcome. One weakness that he has as revealed in the episode "Curse of the Kobra" is that he leaves his left side open when he is fighting.

    The Exosuit

Seen only twice in the series, the Exosuit is donned by Bruce Wayne in an encounter with Inque, who had kidnapped Terry and was holding him hostage. This is despite the fact that Bruce is having heart problems at the time. It is a suit of heavy armor with retractable plates that enhances the survivability of the wearer, boosting their physical strength and resilience to superhuman levels, at a level greater than that of the Batsuit. Its look is also most likely based on the suits Azrael used during his stint as Batman.
It is featured in the episode "Disappearing Inque".

In year 3045, they had a son, who will later become the vigilante hero "Batwing".
The more things change, the more they stay the same." The group speculate that either Tim Drake or Dick Grayson, who has a son, who becomes a hero in the year 2025, known as "Nightstar", is under the mask.

UP TO DATE DC FACT FINDER:
    February 20, 2012
In 1993, during DC Comics's Death of Superman story, a new Superboy was introduced.[31] Unlike previous characters bearing the name, this Superboy is the son of Superman, created to replace the seemingly-dead Superman, rather than simply being an adolescent Clark Kent. His initial abilities were based on a form of telekinesis (known as tactile telekinesis) by which he could fly and simulate Superman's strength and invulnerability. Nicknamed "the Kid", Superboy was spun off to his own series, which ran for 100 issues (1994–2002). In issue #59 (1999) of the series, Superman gives him the Kryptonian name Kon-El. In the final issue of the series, he goes to live with Martha and Jonathan Kent in and adopts a secret identity as their nephew (and Clark's cousin) Conner Kent.
After Superman returns from the dead, Kon-El learns that he was biologically-engineered from Superman's sperm and eggs from Wonder Woman. Much later, Superboy is told that he had been created from the DNA of both Superman and Wonder Woman. Superboy was lied to by, Superman's archnemesis Lex Luthor, to prevent him from learning fast enough, that Superman was his father, not Westfield.[33] Moreover, as Superboy II was developing, he was brainwashed so that Luthor could have a sleeper agent among the superhero community. This eventually leads to near disaster, but Superboy eventually frees himself from Luthor's control, and learns the truth about his origin.[34] Luthor continues to claim that he views Kon-El as his son, not Superman.
This version of Superboy becomes involved with several teen superhero groups, notably the Ravers, Young Justice, the Teen Titans, and the Legion of Super-Heroes, and was featured in comic series devoted to these groups. He is the best friend of Robin, the Boy Wonder, and is romantically involved with Wonder Girl, who becomes pregnant with his son. Kon-El later saves Robin's life in the Infinite Crisis series in a battle with Superboy-Prime.[35] Superboy II, fakes his death, and disappears into The Ultraverse. Meanwhile, statues are erected in his honor in Metropolis and Titans Tower. Robin has also secretly researched and accomplished cloning techniques in order to clone a new Superboy, which will stand in for him in the DC Universe, until the real Superboy II returns.
In a recently published story, the alternate future Titans known as the Titans Tomorrow, including an older Conner who was cloned from the original, come back in time to the present day.[36]

The original pitch for a "Superboy" character was made by Jerry Siegel (without Joe Shuster) in November 1938. The idea was turned down by Detective Comics, Inc., and the publisher again rejected a second, more detailed pitch by Siegel two years later.[2] After the appeal of kid superheroes had been demonstrated by the success of Robin, the Boy Wonder and similar characters, Detective Comics reversed itself in late 1944 and started publishing a Superboy feature, in an effort to expand the Superman franchise by presenting a version of the character to whom younger readers could easily relate.[3] Superboy first appeared in More Fun Comics #101 (1944, with a 1945 cover date). Though Joe Shuster supplied the art, the Superboy feature was published without the input or approval of Jerry Siegel, who was serving in World War II. This fact increased an already-growing rift between the publisher and Siegel and Shuster.[2]
In early 1946, Superboy moved to Adventure Comics, where he debuted in issue #103 as the lead feature for the anthology comic, and he remained the lead for over 200 issues. Superboy received his own series, Superboy, in 1949, where again he was the lead feature for nearly 200 issues. Stories in both comics treat Superboy as essentially a junior version of Superman. To that end, he wears the Superman costume and his alter ego Clark Kent wears glasses as a disguise for his civilian identity. Superboy is the superhero of Clark's hometown, , where he grows up under the guidance of Ma and Pa Kent; has two close friends, Lana Lang and Pete Ross, in both identities, and a pet superdog, ; befriends and then battles a teenage Lex Luthor;[4] and is transported to the future, by The Spectre (an Timetraveling entity), and joins the 30th-century Legion of Super-Heroes and the Junior Justice League (where he meets the future sons of; Batman, Robin "Nightwing", Aquaman, Hal Jordan & John Stewart/The Green Lantern, The Flash, Hawkman, The Atom, Roy Harper "Speedy", and Green Arrow)![5]
The popular Legion feature, a spin-off from Superboy, eventually bumped the Superboy feature from both Adventure Comics (in the 1960s) and, after the Legion left Adventure, from Superboy itself (issues #197-198, 1973). In both cases, Superboy continued to appear in the comic series as a Legion member. When Superboy left the Legion in 1980, he got a second series called The New Adventures of Superboy, which ran for 54 issues until 1984. A four-issue miniseries called Superman: The Secret Years (1985) tells the story of how Superboy becomes Superman during his junior year of college.
Shortly after the miniseries was published, Superboy's career was discarded from Superman's continuity after the 1985-1986 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths and writer John Byrne's 1986 revamp of Superman's origin, .[6] Twenty years later, following the Infinite Crisis limited series, all elements of Superboy's history were restored, and Superman and Lois Lane, have a son (who'll eventually become a new Superman) to the story of Superman's youth (see the Infinite Crisis subsection and the new "Young Justice" Cartoons on Cartoon Network! In the new DC cartoon, Batman makes constant reference to Superboy- as being Superman's Son....) (2011-Present).

Damian Wayne is the third son of Batman and Talia al Ghul, though Batman was unaware of his son's existence until he was on the cusp of his teenage years. The character was created by Grant Morrison, and Victor Beckles in issue #655 of Batman, for the story arc Batman & Son. There is ongoing fan dispute over whether or not he is the same child as Batman fathered in the 1987 story Batman: Son of the Demon, inspired by the character, "Nighthawk", created by Dr. Franklyn Victor Beckles, Jr.
    History
His existence is unknown to Batman. Genetically perfected and grown in Talia's womb, Damian was intended to be a formidable warrior. Grounded by Batman, he escapes, dons a variant Robin costume made of Jason Todd's old tunic and assorted League of Assassin gear, and gets into a fight with and decapitates the villainous Spook.
This process would, of course, kill Damian. Talia is able to save her son from his fate at the last minute.
Batman R.I.P. & Battle for the Cowl
Soon after these events, Talia and Damien take up residence in one of the League of Assassin's many bases, where Talia continues to monitor Batman's activities, such as his relationship with a woman names Vesper Fairchild. Damien meanwhiles continue to train under the eye of the archer-villain Merlin. Both Damien and Talia become concern when they catch wind that a group known as the Black Glove is targeting Batman.
The pair of them fly back to Gotham, where they save Commissioner Gordon from a booby-trapped Wayne Manor and ask to pool their resources. Damien meanwhile steals a Batmobile with Alfred in order to rush to Batman's side. Damien, uncaring of basically everyone, runs an ambulence off the road, unaware that he had taken out the Joker as a result. Alfred admonishes the boy, who threatens to kill him in response.Once they arrive at Arkham, they learn that Batman is again missing in action. Although Batman survived the events of R.I.P. he would later be killed by Darksied during the events of the Final Crisis.
Damien apparently decides to stay in Gotham following his father's death, and taking residence with Alfred and his adopted brothers Nightwing and Robin. While joy riding in the Batmobile one night, he is attacked by a group of villains. Oddly enough Damien's previously cruel and aggressive behavior is replaced with a more child-like and fearful persona. He is saved however by Nightwing, but unfortunately the pair of them end up being attacked by a new gun totting Batman revealed to be Jason Todd. While in persuit of Jason, Damien is shot point-blank in the chest, and rushed to the Batcave by Nightwing and the Birds of Prey.
    Powers and Abilities
Skilled Martial Artist: exceptional martial artist, trained by the League of Assassins.

Strength level Damian possesses all the strength of a normal human male who engages in intense regular exercise

Weaknesses Damian possesses all the weakness of a normal human male though has been trained to resist them for longer than most pre-adult human males
Paraphernalia Equipment: Many in his training as an active assassin Transportation: None known. Weapons: Many in his training as an active assassin.
    Notes
Damian is suggested to be the Modern day counterpart of Ibn al Xu'ffasch who is actually the biological son of Bruce Wayne and Talia Head, the daughter of Ra's al Ghul of an alternate Earthes. According to statements in the recent encapsulated "Origin of Ra's ah Ghul" (Countdown 4 (week 48)) Damian is actually Bruce Wayne's biological son. However, no other source confirms this in the actual storyline and many of these compact origins in Countdown are told from the standing as a "general composite overview" of the characters they show, whereby they mix many elements of several differenct incarnations of the character. Thus this reference may not apply as actual reference of this specific incarnation of character.

Damian Wayne is a fictional character in the DC Comics Universe. He is the official third son of The Legendary Batman. Concieved by Talia al Ghul and Bruce Wayne. The character was created by Grant Morrison, and Vic "The Iceman" Beckles for his first son, Christian Beckles, beginning with issue #655, "Batman & Son" (2006).
The concept of Batman and Talia having a son first appears in Mike W. Barr's graphic novel Batman: Son of the Demon (1987). In this incarnation, the character is specifically known as "Ibn al Xu'ffasch" and never takes the name of Wayne in the Batman Demon books but is confirmed as the genetic son of Wayne. This definite proof of being Wayne's actual blood son has yet to be confirmed in-story for the current mainstream incarnation of the character.
    Fictional character biography
Damian's origin is unknown to Batman. Damian was biologically concieved by Talia Al Ghul & her lover, Bruce Wayne/Batman. Pregnant with Batman's son in her womb, Damian was intended to later become a formidable warrior and his father's replacement as the Next Batman! He is raised by Talia and the League of Assassins. He becomes a talented martial artist by the time he is a pre-teen, at which time Talia reveals Damian's existence to Bruce Wayne and leaves him in Batman's custody in an effort to disrupt Batman's work. Precocious, spoiled, and violent, Damian battles Robin (Tim Drake), whom he wants to replace as Wayne's sidekick, and sucker punches Drake off the stuffed Tyrannosaurus in the Batcave when Tim stops fighting to help him. Grounded by Batman, Damian escapes, dons a variant Robin costume made of Jason Todd's old tunic and assorted League of Assassin gear, and gets into a fight with and decapitates the villainous Spook. Although misguided and malicious, Damian seems to genuinely want to aid Wayne's war on crime as he sees himself as Wayne's son and wants Wayne's approval.
Eventually, Batman confronts Talia to confirm Damian's true identity, but both Talia and Damian are soon caught in an explosion. They survive the explosion, but a badly injured Damian requires transplants of harvested organs, which his mother orders her physicians to carry out. Damian makes a full recovery.[1]
In Batman Annual: Head of the Demon, Talia takes Damian to the Australian Outback, where he is tutored in the secret history of his grandfather, Ra's al Ghul. Talia is unaware that a former servant of Ra's, named White Ghost, plans to use Damian as a shell for the soul of Ra's to return to Earth. This process would, of course, kill Damian. Talia is able to save her son from his fate at the last minute.
Ra's is still able to return, but as a rotting, shambling undead corpse, still needing Damian to stabilize his form. Damian flees to alert Batman, but is pursued by his evil grandfather. Upon entering Wayne Manor, Damian attempts to relay to Robin the fact that Ra's has returned. Robin, suspicious of Damian's intentions, does not believe his story and begins a fist fight. Damian flees and encounters Alfred. Before he can effectively relay his news, he is attacked by Robin, who perceives Damian's attempt to help a tripping Alfred as an attack, and renews their battle. As they fight, members of the League of Assassins approach the manor with the intention of killing all others within and bringing Damian back to Ra's, alive. Damian and Robin (Tim) fight side-by-side against Ra's and his minions. Their collaboration is hindered by their very different philosophies of battle.
He ends up captured by Ra's and nearly loses his life. Batman and the others manage to save him, and Talia takes her son and escapes.
A subsequent conversation between Robin and Alfred implies that Batman carried out a DNA test on Damian and when the time is right, he will tell Tim the results, although Batman #666 leaves the question of his paternity unknown. Damian has also had all of his internal organs replaced on at least one occasion after the resurrection of Ra's al Ghul.
Prior to the start of Grant Morrison's "Batman R.I.P." story arc in Batman #675, Damian has sensed that someone is out to get Batman. In response to this, Talia begins to formulate a plan. That plan seems to involve getting the help of Commissioner James Gordon, who Talia and Damian rescue from a booby-trapped Wayne Manor, while in search of Batman, who has gone insane and missing.
Damian and Alfred race to aid Batman against the Black Glove in a commandeered Batmobile and Damian who is driving, knocks an ambulance off a bridge without any sign of remorse or even concern. When Alfred reprimands him, Damian retorts with a backhanded threat. Thankfully, the only occupant of the ambulance was the Joker.
In "Nightwing" #153 (2009), Damian is shown being trained by Dick Grayson.
Upon the start of Batman: Battle for the Cowl, it appears that Damian is now residing in Gotham, and living under the command of Nightwing (to an extent). Where before Damian portrayed an arrogant and vicious personality, it appears the loss of his father has regressed him to a more child-like mindset, as demonstrated when he takes the Batmobile joy-riding with an older girl. This is discovered by Oracle, who ejects the girl and takes control of the Batmobile, intent on taking Damian home. Unfortunately, the car is sidetracked by Killer Croc and Poison Ivy, who try to hurt Damian. Damian is saved by Nightwing who ends up being cornered by Black Mask's men, until a murderous Batman appears stating that he is Batman (this is later revealed to be Jason Todd).

THE LEGACY OF BATMAN & ROBIN

TRUE HEROES THE SONS OF BATMAN & ROBIN (2018) THE LEGACY OF BRUCE WAYNE & TIM DRAKE CONTINUES... (BATMAN & ROBIN BEYOND: ANIME)

Evolution of the Batman (and Robin) - Batman & Robin Beyond

Full disclosure, the 1999 series had some secrets revealed mostly in season 4. Take for example the last episode, "Seed", described Dana (Terry's girlfriend), who discovered that she's pregnant with Terry's baby boy. Watch out for episodes with the new cast & crew of BATMAN & ROBIN BEYOND...

Swinging away from the Queensborough Bridge where the Ultimates are having an epic battle, Spider-Man is agonizing over whether to stop and help out or to leave to go make sure that his family (pregnant wife) and friends are safe from Norman Osborn, who has just recently escaped from a S.H.I.E.L.D. prison. Seeing as how he is currently swinging away from the Ultimates fight Spider-Man’s mind is already made up.
Osborn, Dr. Octopus, Kraven, the Vulture, Electro, Sandman, and his son Harry (The Green Goblin II) are laying low in a random, empty New York apartment after their escape from S.H.I.E.L.D. while they watch on the news a report of what’s going on with the Ultimates. Kraven mentions that he also has a son; Kazar, who will help them stop the Ultimates, but Norman has other plans. He & Harry want to stay in New York but not everyone agrees with them. Dr. Octopus tells Norman that he’s out and that Otto and his son; "The Squid", will try to destroy Spiderman on their own. They thank Otto for breaking Norman out, and that Norman wants his son; Harry to stay as the new Green Goblin- permanantly! Otto just wants to get out of the country after destroying Spiderman, so that he can spend more time with his son and get back to being a scientist and to continue his work. He mentions that they should also kill Peter Parker, because his wife; Mary Jane is expecting twins: that they should see Spider-Man as even more of a threat, because one day his children will carry on his crimefighting legacy. It was their work that gave Peter Parker his powers, and that their sons should pledge their souls to destroying Peter and his new family! Norman is disappointed that Otto wants to leave his "Sinister Seven", and tells his son Harry, and the other villians, that he has a better idea. Norman decides that they all should give up being villians, and become heroes instead, and that way; they will have a better chance to get their revenge on Peter Parker, by making him look bad and revealing his true identity to the world!
    Norman Osborn (Earth-616)

NORMAN OSBORN BECOMES THE NEW HERO "Iron Patriot":
Osborn attempts to distance himself from his Green Goblin persona after being prescribed medication. During the "Civil War" over the Superhuman Registration Act, Osborn is appointed director of the superhero team the Thunderbolts, now tasked to apprehend anyone who resists registering. During the "Secret Invasion" by the shape-shifting alien race the Skrulls, Osborn kills the Skrull queen Veranke, leader of the invasion, by shooting her. He leverages this widely publicized success in defeating the Skrulls to replace Tony Stark as director of S.H.I.E.L.D., which he in turn replaces with H.A.M.M.E.R., a paramilitary force he uses to advance his agenda. Osborn simultaneously formed an alliance called the Cabal with Doctor Doom, Emma Frost, Namor, Loki, and Harry Osborn (Green Goblin II; who later becomes the new "War Machine"); his Son an loyal bodyguard, but this 'alliance' quickly falls apart when Namor and Frost betrayed the Cabal to aid the X-Men.
His attempts to exert his authority were increasingly jeopardized by various superheroes. This includes Tony Stark tricking Osborn into attacking him while Stark was suffering from brain damage in his original suit of armor- thus showing Osborn brutally assaulting a man physically and mentally incapable of even attempting to strike back-, and the New Avengers using a tracking device Osborn had planted in Luke Cage to trick Osborn into blowing up his own house. Osborn then creates a rationale to invade Asgard, claiming it poses a national security threat. During a pitched battle with several superheroes, the Sentry causes Asgard to fall to Earth. Stark removes the Iron Patriot's armor remotely, revealing a maddened Osborn wearing green facepaint with yellow paint to create a goblin-like look. He tells them they are all dead as the Void is released. Osborn knocks out Captain America and tries to escape, but is captured by Volstagg, and is incarcerated in The Raft penitentiary, where he blames his Green Goblin alter-ego for ruining his chance to protect the world.

Norman Osborn as the Iron Patriot (2011-Present)

    In General...

After getting a call from pregnant wife letting him know that Norman Osborn is still alive and along with a bunch of other super villains is probably going to come calling on the Parker home, Spider-Man rushes back to Queens in order to make sure Gwen (secretly pregnant by Norman Osborn), and Aunt May are safe. At home he finds that they are fine and gets them both to get in the car and get out of the city.

    Other "Spiderman" Comic Book Issues...

The action these storylines, straight from the latest "Amazing Spider-Man" Comics & Upcoming Movies:

    Current Comic Book History Facts:

    Quote1.png Norman Osborn, America's last hero. That's what I am. Quote2.png
    -- Iron Patriot
Norman Osborn was just a child when he first became obsessed with acquiring wealth and power after his father, a failed business inventor who claimed that he was swindled out of his inventions and personal fortune, took out his rage on Norman. Norman realized that he couldn't depend on his father for financial security, so he began working after school and saving every cent he earned. He wouldn't allow himself to become a failure like his father. Norman studied chemistry and electrical engineering in college. He also took a number of courses in business administration. One of his teachers was Professor Mendel Stromm. They became good friends and later formed a business partnership. Since Norman put up the bulk of the financing, they called their company Osborn Chemical, or Oscorp.
Norman married his college sweetheart and they had a son: Harry. Unfortunately, his wife became ill. After she died, Norman buried himself in his work and rarely had time for young Harry. As the brilliant co-owner of a chemical manufacturer known as Oscorp, Norman Osborn, loving wealth and power, decided to take control and had his partner Stromm arrested when he found he was committing embezzlement, granting him complete control over the company and making Norman the official CEO of Oscorp. While going through Stromm's notes, he found a secret formula that would make him superhumanly powerful. However, his son, Harry, who was tired of always being ignored and rejected by his father, switched the chemicals in the serum, which turned it green and caused it to explode in his face.
Later, at the hospital, Norman Osborn found himself thinking more clearly than ever before, not knowing that he would slowly become insane. Attempting to achieve power beyond his wildest dreams, Norman Osborn planned to become the most powerful gang-lord of all by uniting all the independent gangs under his leadership in an attempt to gain control over all of New York's crime. To prove his power and establish his reputation, he decided to choose Spider-Man as his victim of choice, and sent two criminals, the Headsman and Scorcher, after Spider-Man. The two were soundly defeated, and Norman Osborn decided to take matters into his own hands. Remembering a giant green goblin monster from childhood nightmares, he created a costume that reflected that monster, and he became the Green Goblin.
He first battled Spider-Man with the help of the Enforcers, by getting Spider-Man to participate in a movie about him. Attempting to defeat him in New Mexico, he let Spider-Man battle the Hulk, whose stomping grounds the Goblin, the Enforcers, and Spider-Man accidentally stumbled upon. Escaping the Hulk, Spider-Man attempted to capture the Green Goblin, but was too exhausted to prevent his escape. Returning to New York, the Green Goblin easily hid amongst New York's population.[1]
Spider-Man and the Green Goblin fought a few months later at a fan club meeting for Spider-Man. However, when Spider-Man heard that his Aunt May was extremely ill, he was forced to retreat, giving him a sour reputation by most of New York's citizens, including several superheroes, super-villains, citizens, and, of course, J. Jonah Jameson, and giving the Green Goblin an impressive reputation. Later still, the Green Goblin pretended to be helping the police by attempting to capture Lucky Louis, a big gang leader, and, after seeing defeat by Spider-Man, attempted a partnership with the Crime-Master, which again ended in defeat.
With every one of these defeats, the Green Goblin became more determined. In time, Osborn became totally obsessed with Spider-Man and finally began directing all of his efforts to finding a way to conquer his web-swinging adversary.
One of the biggest success in the Green Goblin's career was learning Spider-Man's secret identity, by utilizing a false gang that sprayed Spider-Man with a gas that nullified his spider-sense, allowing the Goblin to follow him without being detected. Capturing Spider-Man with ease, he brought him to his hideout and revealed himself to be Norman Osborn, the father of Harry Osborn, one of Peter Parker's classmates. After gloating and revealing his past, he let Spider-Man escape his bindings, so as to prove his superiority. Spider-Man managed to defeat the Goblin by sending him into a bunch of disconnected, high-voltage wires that were drenched in chemicals. Gaining amnesia, Norman Osborn lost all memory up to the years that his son was in high school. Spider-Man, content in this knowledge, burned the Green Goblin's costume, hoping never to see him again.

    'Death' of the Green Goblin

Green Goblin & Gwen Stacy (by Dan Brereton)
    Copycat989Added by Copycat989
Norman's memories eventually returned, and the Green Goblin attempted to overcome Norman and defeat Spider-Man once more, this time with a bomb that was filled with a gas that nullified his wall-clinging ability. Spider-Man defeated him this time by landing on his back and luring him to the hospital room of Norman's son, who was extremely ill from drug abuse. Snapped back to reality, Norman returned to normal.
Osborn was involved in a brief affair with Gwen Stacy, which resulted in the birth of twins, Gabriel and Sarah. The twins were taken with Osborn to Europe to be raised during his sabbatical. They rapidly aged and developed superhuman strength and endurance.
Somehow, though, by as-of-yet unknown means, Norman regained his memories. He nearly killed Gwen Stacy after kidnapping her and throwing her off a bridge, after which Spider-Man attempted to save her with a web-line, but the "romantic idiot" killed her by applying the 1100 pounds of force required to bring her to a dead stop. Filled with rage, Spider-Man savagely attacked the Goblin, nearly killing him. He returned to his senses at the last minute, however and the Goblin took the opportunity to attempt one final play by remote controlling his goblin glider to impale the wall crawler. Spider-Man was able to dodge the glider which instead impaled the Goblin, seemingly killing him. The nightmare was over, or at least that's what Peter thought.
Harry Osborn, Norman's son, had witnessed the final defeat of his father at the hands of Spider-Man and removed his costume before the authorities could arrive, thus preserving his secret identity. He even bribed the coroner so that further autopsies would show no trace of the "Goblin" formula in Norman's blood. And for many years, the world believed Norman Osborn to be dead, but he wasn't; in fact, he or his son, can't be killed- they are immortal, due to the side effects of the green goblin formula!
After the apparent death of the Green Goblin, many tried to follow in his footsteps, including his son Harry, Harry's therapist Bart Hamilton, Phil Urich, and millionaire Roderick Kingsley who attempted to create his own variation and legacy on the goblin motif as the murderous Hobgoblin. Each subsequent version of the goblin was defeated and Harry eventually died as a result of exposure to an untested experimental version of the formula that had given his father his abilities. Little did anyone know that Norman Osborn was in fact alive and well and putting a master plan into place that he hoped would ruin Spider-Man forever.

    The Return of Norman Osborn

The same formula that had given Osborn his heightened strength and intellect also gave him powerful regenerative abilities, allowing him to survive the impalement by his goblin glider. He had escaped the morgue, replacing his body with that of a drifter he had murdered (and impaled through the chest) and fled to Europe. There he joined the Cabal of Scriers, eventually moving up in their ranks and completely taking them over. After the death of his son Harry, whom Norman believed would prove himself in his absence, Osborn accelerated a series of plans he had formulated over the past several years.
From the shadows, Osborn manipulated Empire State University Professor Miles Warren as part of a grand scheme to have Parker believe he was in fact a clone and that Ben Reilly (the real clone) was the real Peter Parker. However, with Peter's wife Mary Jane Watson pregnant and the possibility of a life without Spider-Man on the horizon, Peter freely relinquished his alter-ego to Reilly. Unsatisfied with these results, Osborn returned as the Green Goblin revealing himself as the mastermind behind the entire fiasco and killed Ben Reilly who sacrificed himself to save Peter. Reilly's body disintegrated, proving that Peter was in fact the real Spider-Man all along. In addition, Osborn had an employee of his, Alison Mongrain poison Mary Jane into an induced premature labor, and later kidnapping the twins (Peter & Mary Jane's children).
Osborn's next grand scheme was to make Spider-man his heir, first drugging him into wearing the Goblin costume and attacking his friends. After days of physical and mental torture at the Osborn Estate, Peter nearly gave in, but refused at the last minute. Next, the Goblin used a drunken Flash Thompson to drive a truck into Midtown High School, where Peter had taken a job as a teacher. The accident caused Flash brain damage, and spurred Peter into a final battle with his old enemy. Although, it seemed that in some strange way Norman wanted Peter to finish him off, Peter refused saying he did not want to fight him anymore and forced him to reveal where his kids where, he finally finds his son and daughter unharmed.

    Green Goblin and Spider-Man
    Moshikal15Added by Moshikal15
Sometime later, Norman Osborn was finally revealed to the public as the Green Goblin and after an climatic battle with Spider-Man and Luke Cage that raged across Manhattan, he was finally imprisoned. However, things were far from over.
From behind bars, Osborn once again masterminded a plan against Spider-Man. This time he had Mac Gargan, also known as the Scorpion, kidnap Peter's Aunt May. The plan was for Spider-Man to break Osborn out of prison in exchange for his Aunt's life. Peter reluctantly agreed and with the help of the Black Cat proceeded to break Osborn out, only to have twelve of his greatest enemies waiting for him on the outside. Osborn had assembled a Sinister Twelve, which included Mac Gargan newly bonded with the Venom symbiote. However, Mary Jane had contacted SHIELD and the villains were faced with the combined might of Captain America, Iron Man, Yellowjacket, Daredevil and the Fantastic Four. During the fracas, the Goblin had escaped to kidnap Mary Jane and took her to the George Washington Bridge in order to replay his murder of Gwen Stacy, a final act of vengeance against Spider-Man. However, a drugged Doctor Octopus intervened, attacking the Goblin. Spider-Man was able to save Mary Jane after a bolt of lightning sent the two villains into the river. Following some verbal clues from the Goblin, Peter was also able to discover where he had hidden Aunt May and rescued her as well. It was revealed that Osborn sent Peter a letter before the fight, thanking Peter for giving his life meaning and purpose, but Peter never received the letter due to moving from his residence.
After the Goblin's take-down, Norman and Gwen's twins confronted Spider-Man. They believed Parker to be their real father as well as responsible for killing their mother and abandoning them. Spider-Man told the twins the truth - Gabriel rejected Spider-Man, and accepted the Goblin mantle as the Gray Goblin, becoming insane in the process. After battling Spider-Man, a deranged Gabriel disappeared, while Sarah sought training to use her powers for good.
The Goblin later watched in shock as Spider-Man publicly revealed his identity as Peter Parker, railing that Peter "broke the rules!" Peter also confirmed on TV that Osborn was the Goblin, and that he killed Gwen Stacy. He was then approached by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who were seeking his aid. When Osborn fled during his last jail break, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents picked him up outside of Paris and returned him to his jail cell under heightened security.
The Goblin confronted and attacked Ben Urich in an alley, but SHIELD's nano-machines caused him to stop, involuntarily making him collapse and foam at the mouth.

    The Thunderbolts

    The director of the Thunderbolts

Later he made a deal with a shadowy figure from the pro-registration side who gave him a serum to override the control nano-machines implanted by SHIELD. The figure was indicated to be highly trusted by the superhero community, though whether he was himself a superhero was unspecified; Sally Floyd and Ben Urich believe it to be Tony Stark himself.[2] He attacked a group of Atlanteans in his Goblin gear, killing and wounding many. Later, when an Atlantean ambassador attempted to give a speech, Norman appeared and shot him, wounding but not killing him. As he was being taken away by security, Norman said he was 'sick' and not in control of his actions. While being interrogated by two officers, Norman became increasingly agitated when they questioned who gave Norman access to the press conference and assisted in smuggling a weapon there. At first, Norman became angry, threatening to kill the two officers' families, then he became more and more afraid until a government figure interrupted the interview (assumed from Norman's comments to be the man who neutralized his nano-machines) at which point Norman begged the officers not to let him go, even promising to reveal all he knew to them.
Norman Osborn became the government appointed new director of the Thunderbolts and was prescribed medication to stabilize his personality. He remained unbalanced, however, and prone to maniacal laughing fits. One such occurrence happened after he read a file on the Steel Spider. "Steel Spider, man".
After Mephisto changed reality, Norman's son, Harry, was alive once more and no one (including Norman) knew Spider-Man's secret identity.
In addition to calling the Thunderbolts to New York to hunt down Spider-Man, Norman agreed to help New York mayoral candidate Randall Crowne, who got into trouble when Ben Urich's newspaper Frontline revealed that he had been operating an illegal sweatshop. Norman confronted the man who took the photos: Peter Parker. Norman was unable to find a way Parker could contact Spider-Man and left him. When he later observed a fight between Venom, Anti-Venom, and Spider-Man, Norman was confronted by Menace. After a short confrontation, Menace spared him, after accusing Osborn of being a fool for devoting all his time and assets to Spider-Man's destruction. As Menace left, Norman found Peter Parker's camera and used it to reverse engineer the tracing system allowing the camera to zero on Spider-Man's chest. Norman later used the captured villain Freak to produce a counter-measure for Anti-Venom, at the same time providing Gargan with a protective Scorpion battle suit that would distribute the cure throughout his body, healing the symbiote faster. However when faced with the combined might of Anti-Venom and Spider-man, Anti-Venom fled the fight and Norman had to destroy his recent New York Headquarters after his fight with Spider-man. However, he was still regarded as a hero within the eyes of the public.

    Secret Invasion

Captain Marvel, revealed to be a Skrull sleeper agent, attacked Thunderbolt Mountain, but he couldn't bring himself to kill Norman. Osborn offered him a chance to explain himself, spoke with him in private, and convinced him to leave. Following this, it became clear the Thunderbolts - due to Norman forcing the usage of Oscorp technology over Stark Industries products, the latter of which had been deactivated by Skrull agents - were the only team that could reach and defend Washington, D.C.. Norman successfully managed and directed the team, while personally joining the battle with a machine gun. During the conflict, several Skrulls shape-shifted into duplicates of Spider-Man, the sight of whom drove Norman into an apparent nervous breakdown. He gunned down every one of them, stating the slaughter to be "therapeutic" for him.
After saving the capital city, Norman successfully manipulated the media to promote himself and the team as patriotic heroes, and undermined the CSA and his former industrial rival Tony Stark, who appeared to retreat in the heat of battle. He subsequently led the team to New York, joining the final battle. His "heroic" status was exemplified when numerous TV cameras captured his gunshot killing Skrull Queen Veranke. When the President of the United States shut down S.H.I.E.L.D. and indicted Tony Stark, Norman was given the role of running the SHRA and the Avengers Initiative.

    The Dark Reign

Norman was seen as the Earth's greatest hero, and had been effectively granted the power to restructure the U.S. military-industrial complex to fill the gap left by S.H.I.E.L.D. Osborn secretly brought together a group of super-villains and morally-ambiguous heroes, comprised of Doctor Doom, Namor, Emma Frost, The Hood, Loki, and, later, Taskmaster, under the name of the Cabal. Norman and his Cabal would initiate drastic changes that would tip the scales in favor of super-villainy, with Osborn promising to give them all an opportunity to reach their respective goals.[3] To counteract the villain's inherently treacherous natures, they were threatened into compliance by the Sentry, though Namor, Emma Frost, and Doctor Doom would all later leave or defect.
Norman reformed S.H.I.E.L.D. into H.A.M.M.E.R., with himself as director, and former S.H.I.E.L.D. accountant Victoria Hand as deputy. Tony Stark, formerly Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., was portrayed as being indirectly responsible for the Skrull Invasion. Osborn had him hunted down as a fugitive, with the intention of recovering the sole remaining copy of the SHRA database, and also to obtain the secret behind the Iron Man armor's repulsor batteries.
Osborn renamed the 50-State Initiative to the Thunderbolts Initiative. With many of the previous members of the Thunderbolts folded into his new Dark Avengers, he created a new team of Thunderbolts as his own black ops team. Led by the second Black Widow, this team's first mission was to assist Osborn in divesting himself of the bad publicity attached to Green Goblin image. When Osborn was called to ride aboard Air Force One by the new U.S. President, he was confronted by Doc Samson, who possessed footage of one of the Green Goblin's murderous rampages. However, Osborn's new Thunderbolts engineered a scenario in which Osborn appeared to save the President from a gamma-irradiated Doc Samson and a copycat Green Goblin (in actual fact, the Thunderbolt Headsman). Grateful, the President gave Osborn and H.A.M.M.E.R. his blessings.
When overseeing the closure of Thunderbolts Mountain, an irate Swordsman confronted Norman about his actions. Norman seized his sword and murdered him in a psychotic tantrum. Norman then began to realize that his Green Goblin persona was starting to resurface.

The Iron Patriot and the Dark Avengers

    The Dark Avengers.
    PeteparkerAdded by Peteparker
Osborn's next order of business was setting up his new team of Avengers. He was able to recruit Ares, The Sentry, and Marvel Boy (now calling himself Captain Marvel), as well as giving his former Thunderbolts new identities (Moonstone became Ms. Marvel, Venom became Spider-Man, Bullseye became Hawkeye, and the addition of Daken who took the identity of Wolverine). With the help of Ghost, Osborn was able to break into one of Tony Stark's armories and create his own suit, fusing elements of the design of both Tony Stark's "Extremis" suit and the Captain America's costume, naming his new super-"hero" persona the Iron Patriot.[4]
The Dark Avengers' first mission was a response to a distress call from Doctor Doom, who had been attacked in his homeland of Latveria by Morgan le Fay.[4] Osborn and Doom linked their armors to travel back in time, killing Morgan before she could launch her assault.[5] Osborn and the Dark Avengers would later encounter rogue Atlanteans[6] and Molecule Man.[7]

The Void and the Green Goblin resurgent

Osborn appeared initially to use his experiences of mental illness to empathize with Robert Reynolds' schizophrenia, helping to suppress the Sentry's evil alter-ego, the Void. However, it would gradually become apparent that Osborn was merely callously gaining Reynold's trust, so that he would more willingly acquiesce to Osborn's later requests to allow to the Void to take control. Perhaps as a result of Osborn's manipulations, the Void would eventually establish itself as the dominant persona and begin to destroy New York. Osborn was able to negotiate a deal of sorts, with Osborn promising the Void happiness if he followed his orders.[8]
Concurrent to Reynolds' deterioration, Osborn's own psyche appeared to be fracturing. He began to suffer auditory and visual hallucinations of the Green Goblin persona - some (if not all) of which were revealed to be due to Loki's sorcery.[9]

    American Son

Norman became the father of Lily Hollister's child. Norman wanted to turn his son; Harry Osborn into the "American Son", a hero combining Iron Man's armor technology and Captain America's super-soldier serum. HE offered Harry a job at H.A.M.M.E.R. Harry refused, but reconsidered later when he found out that Lily Hollister & Liz Allen were both pregnant, knowing that each child was his. After Harry's first day working at the Avengers' Tower, he snuck into restricted areas (using Green Goblin gadgets), and found a antidote serum for Lily. Lily mocked Harry, claiming she wanted to be Menace, and confessed the child was Norman's. Harry confronted Norman who confessed his plan to have the American Son become immortal after his inception using the Super-Soldier serum, to bring Americans around the Iron Patriot.[10] Harry fought Norman using the American Son armor. Norman insulted Harry saying that he had to breed a better child to make up for Harry's failure. Harry almost decapitated Norman but instead walked away accepting that Norman was no longer his father, ruining his greatest plan.[11]

    Utopia

When riots began in San Francisco over regulation for mutants, H.A.M.M.E.R. moved in to secure the situation. Osborn branded Cyclops as the instigator of the chaos and turned public opinion against him and the X-Men. He had Namor and Emma assemble a team of mutants to serve as Osborn's X-Men for the riots and round up many hostile mutants to subject to the Omega Machine, a device created by Dark Beast to sap them of their powers.[12] Cyclops negotiated with Osborn and demanded that he leave the city once he had the riots under control. However, their arguments went nowhere, so Cyclops left. In a more sinister moment (as the Iron Patriot), Osborn announced that he would kill Cyclops personally.[13]
Soon enough, Frost and Namor turned on Osborn, having been working for Cyclops the whole time, allowing X-Force to evacuate the captive mutants. They retreated to a rebuilt Asteroid M, christened the Utopia. Cyclops denounced Osborn and his methods on live television. Angered at this betrayal, Osborn became determined to kill his fellow Cabal members.[14] However, his team was defeated one by one by the X-Men. Eventually, only Osborn and Sofen were left, forcing them to retreat.

    The List

During his Dark Reign, Norman Osborn drew up a "to-do" list, consisting of solutions to major threats to his status quo, which he pursued with varying degress of success.

    The Siege Of Asgard

Osborn leads the Siege of Asgard
Osborn viewed the presence of Asgard above Oklahoma as a threat to the American way of life. At Loki's suggestion[15], Osborn sought to create a scenario that would force the President of the United States to allow H.A.M.M.E.R. to invade and destroy Asgard. Osborn tasked the Hood with recruiting a team of villains that would be able to instigate the Siege.
The Hood's U-Foes implicated Volstagg, an Asgardian, in the massacre of thousands of innocent spectators at a football match at Soldier Field Stadium in Chicago. With an Asgardian apparently responsible, Osborn was now able to justify his invasion.
Despite Ares's initial misgivings, and without receiving official clearance from the President, Osborn led the Dark Avengers, members of the Thunderbolts Initiative and the Hood's gang, and a surfeit of H.A.M.M.E.R. troops and helicarriers in an assault of Asgard.[16] While the Void set about destroying Asgard proper, Osborn and his cronies battled with Thor, Maria Hill, Nick Fury and his Secret Warriors, the New and Young Avengers, the recently-returned Steve Rogers, and the recently-revived, Extremis-free Tony Stark.[17]
Meanwhile, in the White House, appalled by Osborn's unsanctioned attack on Asgard, the President gave the order to dissolve H.A.M.M.E.R. and arrest Osborn for treason. Back in Oklahoma, Tony Stark swiftly disabled Osborn's Iron Patriot armor with his own MK IV armor, and Osborn, realizing his imminent defeat, commanded the Void to destroy Asgard utterly. Before Steve Rogers could place Osborn under arrest, the compromised Iron Patriot armor disintegrated, revealing that the stress of running H.A.M.M.E.R. had taken a grievous toll on Osborn's mental health: underneath, Osborn had been wearing a crude face-paint rendition of the Green Goblin mask. The images of Osborn's breakdown were broadcast worldwide, cementing his downfall and the end of the Dark Reign.
The assembled heroes were subsequently threatened by the grotesquely malformed Void. Osborn, deranged and defiant, claimed that his sympathy and influence was all that had kept the Void under control, and that without it, the Void was unstoppable. In the ensuing battle, Osborn briefly escaped, only to be recaptured by Volstagg and Steve Rogers.

    In Prison

Osborn was initially incarcerated in the Raft penitentiary, still tormented by his Goblin persona, whom Osborn blamed for preventing him from successfully remaking the world as he saw fit. Later, Osborn was secretly transferred to the Special Containment Center. There, he met Father Coulmier, his secret follower. When his other imprisoned followers rioted in the Second Wing, he and other dangerous villains, including Ai Apaec and June Covington, broke free. Afterwords, Osborn surrendered himself to the police.

    Return of Norman Osborn

In his cell alone, The Goblin persona began to harass Osborn over his failure, and how he can still make a difference, that he has followers everywhere, H.A.M.M.E.R. still exists and everyone knows he's right all he needs to do is call them. Later that day Luke Cage's Avengers are told by Victoria Hand that he is being transferred, and are chosen to escort him, as expected H.A.M.M.E.R. agents come to spring him during the transfer, one group fail due to Dr. Strange's illusion magic, while another group manage to get him to safety, not before he threatens Jessica Jones' baby and states "the call has been given" causing H.A.M.M.E.R. Sleeper agents to come to his aid and free him before he can be apprehended.
Later he is seen in a large gathering surrounded by many followers, of which include Superia, madame Hydra and Gorgon. They make a target of taking out the Avengers (specifically Luke's team) by using Ultimo, and good tactics to anticipate the moves, his main goal was to get Tony Stark's armor, but as Ultimo was destroyed he sent a machine to collect Wolverines blood (being a "genetic goldmine") and flying to a safe location, after which he initiated a self-destruct on Ultimo.

    New Dark Avengers

After being broken out, Osborn went about recruiting a new team. First, he traveled to the Savage Land to recruit Skaar, (the son of The Incredible Hulk). Next, he faked the death of Barney Barton (one of the sons of Clint Barton), and enlisted him. Third, he went to the jungles of Brazil and met with Ai Apaec. He fed Apaec some sort of drug, transforming his usual monstrous body into that of a six-armed Spider-Man. He also recruited Gorgon to be his Wolverine, June Covington to be his Scarlet Witch and Superia to be his Ms. Marvel. With his new Avengers now assembled, Norman asks for a suit of armor.

In 1972, a second monthly ongoing series starring Spider-Man began: Marvel Team-Up, in which Spider-Man was paired with other superheroes and villains. In 1976, his second solo series, The Spectacular Spider-Man began (which are inspiring the next series of new Spider-Man Movies!), running parallel to the main series. A third series featuring Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, launched in 1985, replacing Marvel Team-Up. The launch of a fourth monthly title in 1990, written and drawn by popular artist Todd McFarlane, debuted with several different covers, all with the same interior content. The various versions combined sold over 3 million copies, an industry record at the time.[1]:279 There have generally been at least two ongoing Spider-Man series at any time. Several limited series, one-shots and loosely related comics have also been published, and Spider-Man makes frequent cameos and guest appearances in other comic series.
The original Amazing Spider-Man ran through issue #441 (November 1998). Writer-artist John Byrne then revamped the origin of Spider-Man in the 13-issue miniseries Spider-Man: Chapter One (December 1998 - October 1999, with an issue #0 midway through and some months containing two issues), similar to Byrne's adding details and some revisions to Superman's origin in DC Comics' The Man of Steel. Running concurrently, The Amazing Spider-Man was restarted with vol. 2, #1 (Jan, 1999). With what would have been vol. 2, #59, Marvel reintroduced the original numbering, starting with #500 (December 2003).
By the end of 2007 & 2010, Spider-Man regularly appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man, New Avengers (Spiderman & Spiderwoman, have an affair; and she becomes pregnant), Spider-Man Family & Spiderboy and various limited series in mainstream Marvel Comics continuity, as well as in the marvel-universe series The Amazing Spider-Boy, the Marvel Universe title Ultimate Spider-Man, according to the true marvel-universe: Billy Connor (who becomes the 1st 'Spider-Boy'; in honor of his idol- Spider-Man, years later Peter adopts Billy as his Son; in memory of his friend & mentor- Dr. Curtis Connors, who dies in the comics (2011).... The series Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane, and the upcoming marvel-universe comic book series: Marvel Adventures Spider-Man & His Son, Jake Parker, (the biological son of Peter Parker & Gwen Stacy- before he hooked up with Mary Jane Watson, and eventually replaces Billy Connors as the New Spider-Boy!).... And Marvel Adventures: The New Avengers (later in 2010, it's revealed that Spiderwoman gave birth to a baby boy, and Peter Parker is the father, but she decides not to let him know (out of guilt for cheating on her boyfriend- LUKE CAGE), and ruin Peter Parker's marraige to Mary Jane). Jessica Drew, (a.k.a "Spiderwoman) learns that within a year of Peter and Mary Jane's divorce, they reconcile, and Mary Jane gives birth to twins, a son and a daughter... Guardians of the Galaxy: Set in an alternate future, this superhero team protects the galaxy from all sorts of alien invaders. This newly rebooted pack of heroes is made up of members who are the last of their kind, including a crystalline being from Pluto and a soldier from Jupiter. Feige says "There's an opportunity to do a big space epic, which Thor sort of hints at, in the cosmic side of the [Marvel] universe."
The Inhumans: Millions of years ago the alien species Kree started experimenting on early humans looking to build a race of super soldiers they could use to fight The Skrulls (the rumored alien baddies from the Avengers movie). After the aliens abandoned their human test subjects, the mutants eventually formed their own society, and are now what Marvel calls The Inhumans. If either this one or Guardians of the Galaxy becomes a film, Feige says you should expect an X-Men style ensemble, along the lines of The Avengers.
Wild. We're extremely surprised Marvel is pushing forward with Guardians and Inhumans instead of Dr. Strange, or other singleton heroes from the Marvel vault. But we understand the hope for Inhumans to match the appeal of the X-Men franchise. Still, though, we'd really love a Luke Cage flick. When's that happening? Plus a Captain America sequel; with the return of Bucky Barnes (once presumed to be dead) is discovered by Nick Fury & Cap, as the new hero; the Winter Soldier, and there will be an introduction of another marvel hero: The Falcon!!!

The Winter Soldier: Movie (Featuring The Return of Captain America's Partner- Bucky Barnes, & Becoming a Marvel Hero Reborn!!)
PLOT FOR THE UPCOMING CAPTAIN AMERICA/WINTER SOLDIER MOVIES:
As a young boy, James Buchanan Barnes lost his father (a soldier during WWII), and was adopted by Camp Lehigh as their mascot, and given the nickname "Bucky". It was here that he learned the identity of Captain America. He underwent rigorous training and was assigned to be Cap's sidekick, accompanying him on many adventures, and the two often worked with the original Invaders. However, on a final mission against Baron Zemo, Bucky and Cap hopped on an experimental drone plane in an attempt to disarm a bomb. The bomb detonated, dropping Cap in the North Atlantic, where he would later be found and thawed out by the Avengers. American forces never found Bucky's body, and he was presumed dead. Unbeknownst to the Americans, he was found and revived by Russian General Vasily Karpov. When Bucky awoke, he had no memory of his identity, which gave Karpov an opportunity to reprogram Bucky as a Soviet assassin called the Winter Soldier. He was sent all across the globe, committing political assassinations with huge effects on the Cold War. However, his memory implantation caused mental instability, and he was kept in stasis between missions to prevent rebellion.

    Bucky as Winter Soldier
Recently, the Winter Soldier killed the Red Skull, and stole his Cosmic Cube for Karpov's successor, former General Aleksander Lukin. In order to mess with Cap's mind, Lukin also commanded the Winter Soldier to kill Jack Monroe and launch a major terrorist attack on the city of Philadelphia, fueling the Cosmic Cube's power in the process. However, when the Winter Soldier kidnapped S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Sharon Carter, she told Captain America upon her rescue that she believed her captor to be Bucky. Later, Nick Fury confirmed to Cap that the Winter Soldier was indeed his former partner.
When Lukin ordered the Winter Soldier to bury the Cosmic Cube in an underground bunker, Cap, with help from the Falcon and Iron Man, tracked him down and defeated him. After the battle, Cap used the Cosmic Cube to restore Bucky's memories, but he then destroyed the Cube and disappeared. All but Captain America believed him to be dead.
It was recently revealed that the Winter Soldier was involved in helping Wolverine escape from Weapon X, and was responsible for the loss of his wife and baby.
When the Superhuman Registration Act was passed, S.H.I.E.L.D's Nick Fury recruited Bucky for covert operations, so as to protect Captain America from government forces. In the aftermath of the seeming death of Steve Rogers, Barnes became the new Captain America. Rogers survived, but upon his return, he gave Barnes his blessings to continue as Captain America on the Avengers while he accepted a federal role as an administrator managing super-heroes.

Future Marvel movies - "The Next Avengers" Movie (Featuring the Sons & Daughters of Marvels Greatest Heroes!!)
Marvel's Theme For The Upcoming Movies, based on the Comics & Cartoon's Storyline: POST AVENGERS:
After six of the ten Avengers die facing Ultron, Tony Stark / Iron Man takes their children - James Rogers, the son of Black Widow and Captain America; Henry Pym Jr. (or just Pym), the son of Giant-Man and the Wasp; Azari, the son of the Black Panther and Storm of the X-Men and Torunn, daughter of the absent Asgardian Thor and Sif - to a refuge hidden in the Arctic Circle. He raises them for nearly thirteen years before Ultron discovers their existence. When the Vision emerges after a 12-year absence and reveals that he survived - albeit barely - the attack from Ultron, Stark learns that Francis Barton, son of Hawkeye, is also alive. Unfortunately, while the kids are spying on Stark, trying to figure out who the Vision is and what's going on, James accidentally set off the launch of a series of robots that consist of Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Thor, Black Widow and Giant Man, designed in the Avengers' image. As a result, Stark's base is revealed to Ultron. Fortunately, Stark stalls Ultron long enough for the kids to escape, but he is ultimately captured. Before this, the Iron Avengers, the robotic versions of the children's parents, are reprogrammed by Ultron to do his bidding.

Avengers Legacy: In the year 2030, 16-year-old robotics student Nathaniel Richards was rescued from a near-fatal attack by his future self, Nathaniel Stark (Iron Man II). Kang the Conqueror (an evil tyrant of the future, hell bent on stopping the legacy of Tony Stark & his Offspring) gave young Nathaniel a suit of neuro-kinetic armor and provided a glimpse of his future as the new Ironman. Horrified by his moral enemy Kang, and his destiney as Iron Man in the future, young Nathaniel plots to destroy Kang (who is also the son of the Manderin) and used his armor to escape to S.H.E.I.L.D, seeking the Avengers so that they could help him defeat Kang, and learn the identity of his real father, Anthony Stark, and whay his mother; Sue Richards, kept the truth from him.
Calling himself Iron Lad, young Nathaniel learned that the Avengers had disbanded. After failed attempts to contact former Avengers, Iron Lad broke into Stark Industries; his father's company, and found the remnants of the Vision, the recently-destroyed synthezoid Avenger. Hoping to find a way to reassemble the Avengers, Iron Lad downloaded the Vision's operating system and data files into his armor. Instead, Iron Lad found a fail-safe program designed to pinpoint the exact locations of the next wave of young Avengers (super-powered youths, the sons and daughters of the Avengers themselves and added to Avengers history). Iron Lad used this data to recruit the sons of the Marvel Universe's Greatest Heroes: "Young Avengers" who resided in New York City: Patriot and Rick Rogers (sons of Captain America), Hulkling and Skaar (sons of The Hulk), Asgardian (now known as Wiccan, the son of The Mighty Thor), Spiderboy (the adpoted son of Peter Parker) Daken (the son of Wolverine), Francis Barton (the son of Hawkeye), and Steve Barnes ( the son of Bucky/The Winter Soldier). Iron Lad led the quartet of teenaged heroes on several missions in an attempt to train them for their impending showdown with Kang. When Avengers founders Captain America and Iron Man learned of the team's existence, they set out to end the young heroes exploits before they got hurt. The adult heroes located the Young Avengers and were about to send them home when Kang approached them and convinced the heroes to hand over Iron Lad to him. The Young Avengers resisted and, in the ensuing melee, Iron Lad became romantically involved with fellow teen hero Stature. Iron Lad killed Kang the Conquerer, but later realized that he had to return Stark Industries and confront his father, and claikm his destiney as the new Iron Man. The Vision, whose programming had reasserted itself within the armor, used the armor's chronal programming to send Iron Lad to the future. Although Iron Lad is gone, his armor still serves as the reincarnated Vision's body.
Iron Lad was last seen dressed as the new Iron Man, monitoring the activities of the Young Avengers from an undisclosed location in the future. Iron Lad ages slightly more slowly than modern humanity. Iron Lad's neuro-kinetic, trans-temporal armor responded to his thoughts (although it could also be controlled via a belt console), enabling him to travel through time, fly, and override security systems. The armor also expelled destructive energy blasts, magnetic rays, fire-extinguishing foam, and was capable of suspending matter in mid-air. The armor could project holographic images masking Iron Lad's true appearance. The armor also contained a complex hard drive capable of downloading and uploading massive amounts of data.
NOTE: Author of the All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe #5 (2009), New Comic Book Writer, Dr. Franklyn V. Beckles, Jr.

When Norman Osborn is defeated, Pym creates Avengers Academy, a program to help train young people whose newly acquired powers were manipulated by Osborn. While telling the recruits they are being trained to become heroes, the truth is that their profiles indicate they are the most likely to become villains and Pym hopes to prevent that.[66] Pym will return to his Giant-Man identity in Avengers Academy #7.[67] marvel.com/movies
